Sproul, R. C.

(born February 13, 1939)
R C SproulRobert Charles Sproul is an American Calvinist theologian, author, and pastor.

Dr. R.C. Sproul, author of more than sixty-five books, general editor of The Reformation Study Bible, and founder of Ligonier Ministries has committed his life to clearly communicating deep, practical truths from God's Word.

The Ligonier Ministries can be heard daily on the Renewing Your Mind radio broadcast in the United States and internationally.

Sproul has been an ardent advocate of Calvinism in his many print, audio, and video publications, and he is also known for his advocacy of the Thomistic (classical) approaches to Christian apologetics, less common among Reformed apologists, and his rejection of presuppositionalism in favor of Thomistic apologetics, often called "Classical Apologetics". A dominant theme in many of Sproul's Renewing Your Mind lessons is the holiness and sovereignty of God.

"Renewing Your Mind with Dr. R.C. Sproul" is also broadcast on Sirius and XM satellite radio. In late July 2012, a new Christian internet radio station called RefNet (Reformation Network) was also announced by Ligonier Ministries in an effort to reach "as many people as possible" where Internet access is available.

Sproul was a passenger on the Amtrak train that derailed in the 1993 Big Bayou Canot train wreck and often gives firsthand accounts of the story.
